Mapping producers across Central Europe: Ecological Wine Producers Dataset
As part of the STORY4WINE project output, we have developed a Wine Producers Dataset, bringing together information on ecological wine producers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
This dataset aims to provide a structured overview of wine producers working with sustainable approaches in these regions.
This is important as identifying existing producers in these areas would be helpful in developing better strategies for ecological wine communication.
The dataset covers producers from three neighboring Central European markets having their own wine traditions, consumer preferences and sustainable approaches.
Hence, it is a relevant output from the STORY4WINE project as it will help us to understand and compare the current approaches towards sustainability of wine producers in different regions.
The dataset brings together information from public sources of nearly 117 ecological wine producers in the three regions.
It includes both basic information about producers and their location, product information, business, and tourism activities as well as information identifying their ecological practices like sustainable approaches, certification details and sustainability claims and verifications of those claims.
Thus, this dataset would create a link between who the producers are and how they adopt and present their sustainable practices.
Further, the dataset also records evidence regarding biodiversity, soil health, and authenticity claims, making it easier to distinguish between documented information and claims that need careful consideration.
The Ecological Wine Producers Dataset is one of the important building blocks of STORY4WINE’s research on sustainable wine storytelling.
Overall, this dataset would provide a clearer picture of the current landscape of ecological wine producers in Central Europe and a comparative overview of ecological wine producers across individual countries and markets.
